The New Audi e-tron Takes on the Competition
The new Audi e-tron is the first Audi that has gone all-electric. This new electric SUV provides ample room, long-range driving capability, and surprisingly thrilling performance. The new e-tron also comes with cutting-edge technology, innovative safety, and upscale luxury amenities for an electric SUV that lives up to Audi's reputation of excellence.
While the new Audi e-tron is undeniably impressive, there has been an influx of hybrid and electric SUVs. With so many luxury options to choose from, it may be challenging to know which option would be best for you. The new e-tron faces competition from the Volvo XC60, Mercedes-Benz EQC, Jaguar I-PACE, and Tesla Model X. We compare each of these models to the e-tron to see how it stacks up against its top competitors. Here at Audi Lafayette we're sure that when you see how the new e-tron fairs, it will be your top choice.
Audi e-tron vs. Volvo XC60

The first thing to note is that the Volvo XC60 offers an available plug-in hybrid powertrain option. This means that if you're looking to eliminate emissions, the Volvo XC60 can't offer what the Audi e-tron can.
- Power: You might think that the XC60's gas engines would have the upper hand, but the reality is that the e-tron delivers more horsepower and torque. There isn't even a competition between the XC60's 250-horsepower standard engine and the e-tron's 402-horsepower dual asynchronous electric motors. Even if you pay top-dollar for the XC60's plug-in hybrid, it still comes up short with 400 horsepower and 478 pound-feet of torque to the e-tron's 402 horsepower and 490 pound-feet of torque.
- Infotainment: The e-tron comes with a standard MMI® Radio system with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, along with MMI® Navigation plus. The XC60 comes with a 9-inch touchscreen, and navigation will cost you extra.
- Safety: Despite Volvo's claim to be a leader in safety, the XC60 earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick award, while the e-tron was named an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus, which one step higher in the rankings.Â
Audi e-tron vs. Mercedes-Benz EQC

When you compare these two electric luxury models, you will find that there are many areas where they are evenly matched, but the Audi e-tron takes the lead where it counts.
- Drivetrain: Both models come with all-wheel drive standard.
- Horsepower: Both luxury electric SUVs use two electric motors to deliver up to 402 horsepower each.
- Ride Comfort: The new e-tron will deliver a smoother driving experience since air suspension comes standard, while the Mercedes-Benz EQC doesn't offer a comparable feature.
Audi e-tron vs. Jaguar I-PACE

The Audi e-tron has the upper hand in performance, style, and technology over the Jaguar I-PACE
- Engine Power: The e-tron delivers up to 490 horsepower while the Jaguar I-PACE caps off at 394 horsepower.
- Charging: The e-tron charges faster than the Jaguar I-PACE with the capability to charge 80 percent of the battery capacity in just 30 minutes, while the I-PACE takes an extra ten minutes. When using a home charger, the I-PACE takes 13 hours to the e-tron's nine hours.
- Infotainment: Not only does the I-PACE's infotainment system look uninspired, but its interface is also slow. The e-tron delivers a dynamic experience with the MMI® operating system and lightning-fast interface.
Audi e-tron vs. Tesla Model X

Tesla has made a name for itself as a top contender in electric vehicles, but how does it do against the new Audi e-tron?
- Price: The Tesla Model X costs considerably more than the Audi e-tron. If you're looking for the right amount of features and capabilities for your money, the e-tron may be the best option.
- Safety: Both the Tesla Model X and Audi e-tron got five-star ratings from the NHTSA. The Tesla Model X has been tested by the IIHS yet, but the e-tron has already received the highest possible safety award.
- Charging: The new e-tron offers quicker charging capabilities than the Model X.
